The 6061 aluminum strip belongs to the 6 series aluminum alloy strip. The source of the 6061 name is due to the different alloying elements added in the production process and the different processes used.
6061 aluminium strip is made of one of the most versatile aluminum alloys. 6061 aluminium strip is the alloy choice for all-purpose applications. 6061 aluminium strip is an aluminium-silicon-magnesium alloy, strengthened by precipitation hardening. This alloy has medium strength, good formability, weldability, machinability, corrosion resistance, and can maintain good operability after annealing.
6061 aluminum strip has T4, T6, T651 temper, indicating it has been solution heat treated followed by a minimal stretching to reduce stresses in the material. The material was then artificially aged to allow the alloying elements to precipitate out of the material, to give immediate maximum strength.
